The theme of this year's World Diabetes Day is "Women and diabetes - Our right to a healthy future". 🔵 1 in 7 births is affected by gestational diabetes (GDM, Diabetes that develops during pregnancy), a severe and neglected threat to maternal and child health. ~ 🔵 Prevention is the best medicine: 🔹Eat a heart-healthy diet that includes all the foods and is low in salt and sugar. ~ 🔹Choose healthy carbs like whole wheat bread, cereals and rice. 🔹Avoid simple sugars found in candies and juices. 🔹Increase the amount of fibers by consuming enough fruits and vegetables. 🔹Eat less saturated fats.
